This week a colleague of mine who was expecting her baby a few weeks from now, went into labor at work. The excitement of waters breaking in office chairs had us all experiencing a smidgen of baby brain. AFTERNOON TEA FOR ONE – MUESLI SCONES W/ APPLE & DATE COMPOTE
I was almost going to call this post ‘I really don’t like moving house’, but once it was all done & all the boxes & miles of scrunched up newspaper had been lumped down to the bin, I thought I’d treat myself to a little of the fun part of moving house. You know what I mean don’t you? The bit where you cook yourself a little treat & sit down in your gorgeous new apartment admiring all your gorgeous new furniture & pimping the cushions & moving that lamp 10 cm to the right & just, well, preening of course!
The cold grey day outside, where the temperatures were too lazy to even reach double digits didn’t inspire me to open the brand new blinds either, besides, it was a good excuse to sit quietly & enjoy my warm little cocoon of space & indulge in another little feminine ritual. A nice little scone & a cup of tea!
Is there any better feeling than realising that somehow, after you’ve painstakingly squeezed massive appliances like fridges & washing machines through doors you didn’t believe they could fit through, or that 18 giant sized boxes somehow did pack down into cupboards & wardrobes & bookshelves, that we did it!
