One of the awesome things about being part of Opening Night with a new venue, is the incredible buzz that starts to build as the million and one jobs on your list of things to do seems to grow quicker than you can tick them off.
With finishing touches being completed to the new state of the art kitchen – we’re talking the Rolls Royce of kitchens here!! We had teams of builders, sparkies & plumbers working around the clock – things resembled Bedlam, but we all know that no matter what is going on ‘back of house’ the show must go on. But dang, that’s part of the pleasure & pain of it all right?
Opening Night was Saturday night for one of my Function Centres; I had 2 weddings going off at the same time and my run sheets had me dashing between separate properties managing 2 teams of staff! We we’re pumped, ready & pulled it off!
Check out the slideshow on our month long journey as The Abbey teams worked to bring us a brand new kitchen in time for our first function.
Have you ever been part of a hospitality venue opening? I’d love to hear your comments & stories.

I worked at the Abbey last year. It looks fantastic. It was very overdue for a makeover, would love to look at it now.
Fabulous to meet you Rebecca and share the new kitchen with you! Stop by any time lovely!
Anna,
How fun and exciting for you! I loved the slide show. It brought back memories of a time when I was part of a team that opened a new restaurant. Seeing it grow from a shell of a building to the final minutes before we opened the door to the long line that was awaiting the Grand Opening was pretty exhilarating.
Thanks for sharing your journey.

Isn’t it just the best Don…. Those moments before (the quiet before the storm) are thrilling… You can feel the buzz in the air. I gotta say, every time I watch the slideshow, I think “Yeah, I was a part of that…. how cool?!”
Have to agree with Don, the slideshow did indeed bring back memories of opening a restaurant years ago. A very exciting white knuckle, teeth clenching, scary times but so, so exhilarating when you see it all come together. Congratulations Lovely! Cheers Sue
Sue, I think this experience has hit my top 3 life experiences so far! Had an absolute ball!
