How could we not stop on our way through the spectacular Alpine High Country, the place is the home of some great Australian folklore; not to mention it’s awesome natural beauty.

Overlooking the Ovens River & National Parks not to mention the surrounding mountains themselves, Bright Brewery is hard to top for a beer and a bite.

Mr. HG and I arrived keen to try some of the alpine countries finest. Head Brewer Scott Brandon, the mastermind behind this bubbly brilliance just happened to be on site. With very little persuasion, alright, there could have been a promise of a slightly inappropriate christmas card, we scored ourselves a free tour back stage to check out the delights of the brewing process and equipment. YEA PEPPERCORN HOTEL

We’d been travelling most of the day, stopping here & there at fun spots that took our fancy & at one stage decided to wander through a Maze, which wasn’t as much fun in the blistering hot 30C+ temperatures as it sounded when we decided on such antics from the air-conditioned comfort of our car!  Note to Anna: make sure you bring water when venturing through Mazes on a hot day!!

Our road trip destination for the evening was to make it to Yea, a tiny little town that just happened to have a beautiful old pub with a big reputation to live up to, we arrived on dark & diligently followed the IPhone GPS’s instruction, even though it led us up a dirt road causing some concern, but, all of a sudden, there it was in front of us The Yea Peppercorn Hotel – promising a perfect country retreat.
