RUBICON – THE NATIONAL CAPITAL’S BEST KEPT SECRET

There is only one restaurant in Canberra that ticks every box when ‘really, really good food & really, really good wine is called for‘ in my humble little cheffy opinion.  This place is where I know I’m never going to be disappointed & enjoy every tantalising tasty mouthful & every sumptuous sip of wine.  Over the years my ‘foodie family’ has chosen Rubicon for many a celebration & it’s my absolute favourite restaurant in Canberra when innovative modern European food that’s been skilfully prepared & artfully presented is call for.

This cozy little retreat can be found nestled just south of the Parliamentary Triangle within the Griffith shops & the funny thing about this favourite haunt of mine, is that it really isn’t that spectacularly designed or cleverly put together at all, because my friends, the food & wine are the stars every time at this fine restaurant.  The simply classic & ever so understated style of decor really pops under the clever lighting & the impeccable all white table settings with exquisite glassware promise’s a dining experience hard to beat. The restaurant is simply furnished, pretty much in cafe style, but manages to be warm and homely at the same time.

The menu is funky and super simple, just a printed page with nothing bound & out to impress at this place. Very cool, I always feel like I have come home when I look over this menu with it’s playlist of original pizza’s dating back to 1997, it begs you to just walk in & nod to Gianni ‘The usual thanks mate’, (if that’s your thing).
