6 DEGREES OF SEPARATION: ARE YOU CONNECTED TO ANYONE FAMOUS?

Way back in 2004, I hopped a plane to the city of London. Been there! Done that! Well at least that is probably what many of you are thinking. There is nothing that original about an Aussie heading to the UK and making it their base for work and the dream of weekend jaunts to ancient European cities.

We Australians cram onto those over-crowded long haul, cramped seat, dehydrating flights for reasons we are not fully aware of, its almost instinctual I guess, we want to know more!

MYRTLEFORD

‘There it is’, I said to Mr HG as we drove into Myrtleford, Victoria. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that it is one of the most beautiful little towns I’ve ever visited.  Ancient Myrtle trees lined the roads and interesting oversized pointed roof barns were speckled amongst the rolling lush green hills.

Myrtleford was originally a refuelling stop for gold miners travelling through the Ovens Valley (need I say more…. I was destined to visit this place right?) in the 1850′s. The town was named after the Myrtle trees.

The town and surrounds are noted for hops, wine making, dairy farming, chestnuts, walnuts and fishing in the mountain streams. I don’t know about you, but I was sold at the hops!  Continue Reading
