MY LADIES LUNCHEON

After months of chowing down on heavy wintery stews, buttery mashed potatoes, steaming hunks of thick cut meat and the odd cheeky pasta…. the cravings for fresh, light, and quick to prepare Summer dishes have become almost an obsession for me…. so when the gals in the family all turned up for a girls only gathering at my place this week, I figured this little beauty was a must to try out.  The meal was lovely and light & the Roast Almond Sauce added a tangy nutty flavour.  The taste combinations were fabulous, especially with the wine.

The 2008 Villa Loco Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc served icy cold was the most perfect partner for our sneaky summer sizzler, wine critics suggest this drop is like a child who inherits the best of both parents, exotic aroma’s, a creamy pungency and limey acidity. Continue Reading

FROM BARREL SHED TO BANQUET HALL

I think we all know each other well enough for me to come clean about one of my guilty little secrets, some of you might have guessed already but here’s the ugly truth – there’s a little bit of Martha Stewart in me!!  Yep, I know your shocked & it’s bit un-cool & all, but just deal OK, coz it’s a fact & we’ve all got to live with it.

You also know I love a good function, in fact, ‘love’ hardly covers it because I adore every moment of a function from its earliest planning stages right up to the moment when front & back of house teams are cranked & delivering at full speed.

You probably don’t know how minutes before the front doors open, & before the first guests arrive; I stand quietly amongst the beautifully dressed tables & have a quiet Martha moment. This always involves sheer amazement at the room’s transformation; it seems to take on an air of excitement & suspense as if it too can’t wait until everyone arrives. Continue Reading
